Gregor Schwering

Gregor Schwering (born 1962) is a literary and media scholar. He taught at the Department of German Studies at Ruhr University Bochum and worked on subjects including Romantic and twentieth-century literature, literary and media theory, and media history. Earlier in his career, he worked as a journalist and for several galleries in Cologne. In the mid-1990s, he directed the Cologne Authors’ Workshop. A personal connection to popular culture is his attendance at a Joy Division concert in Cologne in 1980.
