Gisela Zoch-Westphal (1930–2023) trained as an actor in Hamburg and received her first engagements at the Hamburger Kammerspiele. From 1967 onward, she increasingly worked for the press and radio, publishing travel accounts about Israel, London, Ireland, and Cyprus. From 1975, she managed the poetic estate of the lyric poet Mascha Kaléko and edited three volumes of her poetry for dtv. In 1995, a recording she made with Gert Westphal of the correspondence between Theodor and Emilie Fontane received a record award.
