Gisa Pauly worked as a vocational school teacher for twenty years before turning to writing. She published her first book, “Mir langt’s – eine Lehrerin steigt aus,” in 1994. She wrote novels, screenplays and journalistic pieces. She became particularly known for her Sylt crime novels featuring the spirited Mamma Carlotta, as well as for her Italian novels and a historical saga set on Sylt. Her books repeatedly reached the SPIEGEL bestseller list. Among other honors, Pauly received the Satire Prize of the City of Boppard and a Golden Camera from SWR for the screenplay “Déjàvu.” In 2018, readers of the television magazine rtv voted her Author of the Year.
