Giorgio Parisi, born in 1948, is a physicist. He taught quantum physics at a university in Rome and was a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. He also served as vice president of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. His scientific work earned him, among other honors, the Boltzmann Medal and the Max Planck Medal. In 2021, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his groundbreaking contributions to the understanding of complex physical systems.
