Georges Perec (1936–1982) was a French writer and filmmaker. He was born in Paris to Polish-Jewish immigrant parents. In 1967, he joined Oulipo, the literary movement co-founded by Raymond Queneau, whose members worked with formal and mathematical constraints. His works include W, or the Memory of Childhood, A Man Asleep, and 53 Days. Perec’s book Anton Voyls Fortgang omits the letter E entirely. He also made several films in the 1970s.
