George Saunders

George Saunders (born 1958 in Amarillo, Texas) is an American writer. He grew up in Oak Forest, Illinois, and taught at Syracuse University. His stories have appeared regularly in The New Yorker since 1992. His short-story collection Tenth of December was a finalist for the National Book Award and won the Folio Prize and the Story Prize in 2013. His debut novel, Lincoln in the Bardo, won the 2017 Man Booker Prize and was shortlisted for the Golden Man Booker.
