George R.R. Martin

George R. R. Martin, born in 1948 in Bayonne, New Jersey, is a writer and screenwriter. He published his first short stories in 1971 and later worked in television, including as a writer and producer on “The Twilight Zone.” Alongside novels in various areas of speculative fiction, he wrote the multi-volume epic A Song of Ice and Fire, which served as the basis for the television series Game of Thrones. His other well-known works include Fire & Blood and The Hedge Knight. Martin has received the Hugo Award multiple times, as well as other honors in speculative fiction.
