George Monbiot

George Monbiot, born in 1963, is a British journalist and author whose work focuses on environmental and social issues. He studied zoology at the University of Oxford and wrote, among other things, a weekly column for the British newspaper the Guardian, which was reprinted or translated internationally. His best-known books include Captive State and The Age of Consent, published in German as United People. In 1995, he received the United Nations Global 500 Award from Nelson Mandela for outstanding achievements in environmental protection.
