Gary J. Bass is a political scientist and author. He taught politics and international affairs at Princeton University and earned his doctorate from Harvard University. Earlier in his career, he worked as a reporter for The Economist and wrote for publications including the New York Times, The New Yorker, and The Washington Post. His books include Judgement at Tokyo, The Blood Telegram, Freedom’s Battle: The Origins of Humanitarian Intervention, and Stay the Hand of Vengeance: The Politics of War Crimes Tribunals. Bass was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
