Gabriele Wohmann (1932–2015) was a German writer. Born in Darmstadt, she died there in 2015. Her extensive body of work includes novels, poetry, essays, radio plays and television plays; she was particularly known for her short stories. With a pointed and ironic perspective, she depicted the hidden dramas of everyday life. Her honors included the Bremen Literature Prize, the Hessian Culture Prize and the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Her published collections of stories include “Scherben hätten Glück gebracht,” “Schwarz und ohne alles,” “Wann kommt die Liebe” and “Weihnachten ohne Parfüm.”
