Gabriele Britz

Gabriele Britz studied law in Frankfurt am Main. In 2001, she received the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize of the German Research Foundation for her 2000 habilitation thesis, “Cultural Rights and the Constitution: On the Legal Treatment of Cultural Difference.” After academic positions at the universities of Jena, Bielefeld, and Frankfurt, she became a professor of public and European law at Justus Liebig University Giessen in 2001. In 2011, she took office as a justice on the First Senate of the Federal Constitutional Court.
