Friederike Kretzen

Friederike Kretzen, born in Leverkusen in 1956, studied sociology and ethnology and worked as a dramaturge at the Residenz-Theater in Munich. She published numerous novels and also worked as a literary critic, essayist and lecturer at ETH Zurich and the Biel Institute of Literature. Her literary work received several distinctions, including the German Critics’ Prize for Literature in 1999 for “Ich bin ein Hügel,” the Arno Schmidt Fellowship in 2001, and the Swiss Literature Award in 2018. Her works include the novel “Schule der Indienfahrer” (2017).
