Frank Witzel

Frank Witzel (born 1955) is a German writer of prose, essays and radio plays. Since publishing his poetry debut in 1978, he has published more than a dozen books, including the novels *Bluemoon Baby*, *Vondenloh* and *Die Erfindung der Roten Armee Fraktion durch einen manisch-depressiven Teenager im Sommer 1969*. He received the German Book Prize in 2015 for the latter novel; its radio adaptation won the German Radio Play Prize in 2017. Witzel was also nominated for the Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize and received the Erich Fried Prize in 2021 and the Wortmeldungen Prize in 2024 for his essay *Die Möglichkeit einer Micky Maus*.
