Franco Moretti

Franco Moretti (born 1950) is an Italian literary theorist and professor emeritus at Stanford University. He founded the university’s Center for the Study of the Novel and Literary Lab. He is known in part for applying quantitative methods to the analysis of large bodies of books and for his work in comparative literary history. His publications include *Graphs, Maps, Trees: Abstract Models for Literary History* and *Distant Reading*.
