F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896–1940), born Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald in St. Paul, Minnesota, was an American writer. He wrote novels and short stories and also worked for many years in Hollywood’s film industry. His first novel, “This Side of Paradise,” made him widely known in 1920. Among his most important works is “The Great Gatsby” (1925), now regarded as a classic of American literature. Fitzgerald is particularly associated with his portraits of the social tensions and lifestyles of the American Roaring Twenties. He studied at Princeton but did not complete his degree.
