Federico Faggin

Federico Faggin, an Italian physicist born in Vicenza in 1941, was a key figure in the development of modern computer technology. He developed silicon-gate MOS technology and played a major role in creating the world’s first microprocessor. In 1974, he founded the company Zilog, where he developed the Z80 microprocessor. As a co-founder of Synaptics, he also contributed to the development of the first touchpad and touchscreen. He retired from the technology industry in 2008.
