Eusebius Wirdeier, born in Dormagen in 1950, is a photographer, book designer, author, editor and curator. After vocational training as a graphic designer, he studied art and design at the Kölner Werkschulen and the Cologne University of Applied Sciences from 1967 to 1973. Since 1968, he has published books, catalogs and magazines and presented his work in exhibitions. In 1992, he was appointed to the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie. He received the Severinsbürgerpreis in 2019. A major focus of his work has been the life and oeuvre of the photographer Chargesheimer, which Wirdeier investigated through archival negatives and photographs made at the locations of Chargesheimer’s original images.
