Ernesto de Martino

Ernesto de Martino (1908–1965) was an Italian anthropologist, philosopher, and historian of religion. He studied under Benedetto Croce and Adolfo Omodeo. Together with ethnomusicologist Diego Carpitella, he conducted field research on funerary rituals in the southern Italian region of Lucania and on tarantism.
