Ernesto “Che” Guevara (1928–1967) was an Argentine physician and revolutionary. After studying medicine and traveling extensively through Latin America, he joined Cuban revolutionaries living in exile in Mexico in 1954. As a commander, he fought alongside Fidel Castro during the Cuban guerrilla war and entered Cuba’s revolutionary government in 1959. He resigned from his government posts in 1964. In 1966, he went to Bolivia to continue the revolutionary struggle, where he was killed in 1967.
