Enaiatollah Akbari

Enaiatollah Akbari was born in Afghanistan; his exact date of birth is unknown. Italian authorities later recorded it as 1 September 1989. At the age of ten, he began his flight toward Europe and arrived in Italy several years later. He initially lived with a host family, learned Italian, and studied political science. His story became known through Fabio Geda’s book In the Sea There Are Crocodiles, which recounts Akbari’s flight. Akbari and Geda later co-wrote the sequel In Winter, Snow at Night, Stars.
