Elizabeth Strout was born in 1956 in Portland, Maine, and grew up in small towns in Maine and New Hampshire. After studying law, she turned to writing. Her novel »Mit Blick aufs Meer« received the Pulitzer Prize in 2009. »Oh, William!« and »Die Unvollkommenheit der Liebe« were nominated for the Man Booker Prize, and »Alles ist möglich« received the Story Prize. In 2022, Strout was awarded the Siegfried Lenz Prize for her body of work.
