Elina Penner

Elina Penner was born in 1987 as a Mennonite German in the former Soviet Union and came to Germany in 1991. Plautdietsch is her native language. She studied in Bavaria and Berlin and spent several years in the United States. Her debut novel, “Nachtbeeren,” was published in 2022. Her other publications include “Migrantenmutti” and “Die Unbußfertigen.” Her writing has appeared in Der Spiegel, Vogue, and 11 Freunde, among other publications.
