Dorothee Elmiger

Dorothee Elmiger, born in 1985, is a German-language writer. She studied creative writing at the Swiss and German Institutes of Literary Writing in Biel and Leipzig, and history, philosophy and political science in Lucerne and Berlin. Her debut novel, Invitation to the Daredevils, was published in 2010, followed by Sleepwalkers in 2014. Her work has received, among others, the Aspekte Literature Prize, the Rauris Literature Prize, the Erich Fried Prize, the Nicolas Born Prize and the Franz Hessel Prize. Her book Out of the Sugar Factory was shortlisted for both the Swiss and German Book Prizes in 2020. In 2022, Elmiger was admitted to the German Academy for Language and Literature.
