Dietrich Schulze-Marmeling (born 8 December 1956 in Kamen, Westphalia) is a German writer and football historian. He also wrote on peace-policy issues and the Northern Ireland conflict, but became best known for his books on the history and present of football. His first football book, “Der gezähmte Fußball. Zur Geschichte eines subversiven Sports,” was published in 1992. His other works include books on Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Celtic and Liverpool. In “Davidstern und Lederball,” he examined the history of Jewish people in German and international football. He received the Football Book of the Year award for “Der FC Bayern und seine Juden.”
