Diane Foley

Diane Foley is the mother of U.S. war journalist James Wright Foley, who was kidnapped by the so-called Islamic State in 2012 and murdered on camera in 2014. Foley initially studied nursing and worked for nearly 20 years as a family nurse. Following her son’s kidnapping and murder, she became a public advocate for the families of victims of politically motivated kidnappings, lobbied on their behalf, and founded the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation.
