Denzil Meyrick (1965–2025) was born in Glasgow and grew up on Scotland’s Kintyre peninsula, including in Campbeltown. After studying politics, he worked as a police officer, freelance journalist and managing director of a whisky distillery before turning to writing. His novel *Der Tote im Kamin* (2025) was described as a New York Times bestseller. *Der Tote im Kutter* (2026) is the second case featuring Inspector Frank Grasby.
