Dennis Gastmann, born in 1978 in Osnabrück, worked as a writer, filmmaker and reporter for ARD’s foreign-affairs magazines, travelling across all continents. His reporting received several awards and was nominated three times for the Grimme Award. His books include Mit 80.000 Fragen um die Welt (2011), Gang nach Canossa (2012), Geschlossene Gesellschaft, Atlas der unentdeckten Länder (2016) and Der vorletzte Samurai (2018). For Gang nach Canossa, he walked across the Alps. Dalee was his first novel.
