Denise Mina

Denise Mina (born 1966 in Scotland) is a Scottish writer. She has published crime novels, plays, short stories and graphic novels. Before studying law, she worked in bars, a meat-processing factory, as a cook and as a nursing assistant. She subsequently completed a doctorate and taught criminology at the University of Strathclyde. Her first novel was published in 1998. Her work has received, among other honors, the Dagger Award, the Barry Award, two Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year Awards and the German Crime Prize three times. In 2014, she was inducted into the Crime Writers’ Association Hall of Fame.
