Daniel Siemens, born in 1975 in Bielefeld, is a historian and professor of European history at Newcastle University in the United Kingdom. His research focuses on German, European, and transatlantic history in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. His publications include “Horst Wessel: Tod und Verklärung eines Nationalsozialisten” (2009), which received the Geisteswissenschaften International award, and “Stormtroopers: A New History of Hitler’s Brownshirts” (2017), which was translated into several languages. Siemens is also a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
