Daniel Reichenbach (born 1971) trained as a graphic designer in Lucerne and works as an illustrator and Arabic calligrapher. After his studies, he spent time in Cairo learning Arabic and studying Arabic calligraphy with the calligrapher Mounir al-Shaarni. He is known, among other works, for “Kubri al-Hamir – Eselsbrücken,” a book about Arabic and German words that sound alike but have different meanings. The “Kubri al-Hamir” books provided the name for his own Kubri Verlag. As a student, Reichenbach received the Audience Award at the second Fumetto Comic Festival in Lucerne together with a fellow artist.
