Daniel Goleman, born in 1946 in Stockton, California, is a psychologist who earned his doctorate at Harvard University. He worked as a journalist and editor for Psychology Today and The New York Times, and also taught clinical psychology at Harvard. He gained international recognition with his 1995 nonfiction book Emotional Intelligence. His other books include Social Intelligence and A Force for Good, which he co-authored with the Dalai Lama. His work as a science journalist was recognized with, among other honors, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Psychological Association.
