Claudia Lieb, born in 1976 in Erlenbach am Main, studied communication design in Münster and at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. Since 2005, she has worked as an illustrator and graphic designer for various publishers. Her first book published by Gerstenberg Verlag, The Wonderful Journeys of Marco Polo, received several awards, including the Stiftung Buchkunst prize for the “Most Beautiful German Books” and the Young Talent Award from the German Academy for Children’s and Young Adult Literature. Together with Volker Mehnert, she also created Alexander von Humboldt, or The Longing for Distance and Magical Places.
