Christof Weigold

Christof Weigold was born in Mannheim in 1966. He wrote plays and, from 1996 to 1999, was a staff writer for the German television program Harald Schmidt Show, where he also appeared on camera. From 2000 onward, he worked as a freelance screenwriter for film and television. In 2018, he published The Man Who Didn’t Play Ball, the first novel in his series featuring private detective Hardy Engel in 1920s Hollywood. The book earned Weigold the Mordsharz Festival Prize, also referred to as the Harzer Hammer, for best crime debut, and was nominated for the Glauser Prize. It was followed by The Blood-Red Carpet, The Last Mistress, and The Wicked Father. His novel The Burning Conscience introduced forensic profiler Felix Petry.
