Chantal Akerman

Chantal Akerman (1950–2015) was a Belgian film director, writer, and artist. Her internationally acclaimed body of work comprises more than 40 short and feature films. With a distinctive visual language, she challenged the conventions of traditional narrative cinema. Her films often portrayed women and combined documentary and fiction, comedy and tragedy, as well as personal experience and the exploration of other lives. Among her notable works is the documentary film “No Home Movie” (2014), which she dedicated to her mother.
