Carlos Watzka

Carlos Watzka, born in 1975 in Leoben, studied sociology and history at the University of Graz. He earned a doctorate in social and economic sciences in 2004 and completed his habilitation in sociology at the University of Graz in 2008. His academic positions included serving as a visiting professor at the University of Eichstätt and as a lecturer at the University of Graz and FH Joanneum. From 2020 onward, he served as an associate professor in psychotherapy science at Sigmund Freud Private University. His research focused on the sociology of health and medicine, the history of mental illness and approaches to psychological deviance, suicide research, and social and cultural history.
