Carl Nixon, born in 1967 in Christchurch, New Zealand, is a New Zealand author of novels, short stories and plays. He studied religious studies and education at the University of Canterbury and subsequently taught English; he also lived for periods in Japan and New York. His works include the novels Rocking Horse Road (2011), Settlers Creek (2013) and Lucky Newman (2015), as well as the short-story collection Fish ’n’ Chip Shop Song. Nixon received the Katherine Mansfield Short Story Award and won the Sunday Star Times Short Story Contest twice. Settlers Creek was nominated for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.
