Bruno Jonas, born in Passau in 1952, is a German cabaret artist, actor and author. He began working in theatre and cabaret in 1975 and presented his first solo programme in 1979. From 1981 to 1984, he was an author and performer with Munich’s Lach- und Schießgesellschaft ensemble. On television, he appeared in programmes including “Jonas” and “Scheibenwischer”, as well as “Extratour” and “Die Klugscheißer”. From 2004 to 2006, he wrote and delivered the traditional Lenten sermon as Brother Barnabas at the Salvator tapping ceremony on Munich’s Nockherberg hill. Jonas wrote several books, including “Vollhorst”, “Totalschaden” and “Gebrauchsanweisung für Bayern”. His awards include the Bavarian Culture Prize and the Münchhausen Prize.
