Brian McClellan (born in 1986 in the United States) is an American fantasy author. He began writing short stories at the age of 15 and later studied English with a focus on creative writing. His debut novel, *Promise of Blood*, the first volume of the Powder Mage trilogy, won the Morningstar Award for Best Fantasy Newcomer. It was followed by *Gods of Blood and Powder*, a trilogy set in the same universe.
