Bret Easton Ellis

Bret Easton Ellis was born in Los Angeles in 1964. He attended the private Buckley School and began studying at Bennington College in Vermont in 1986. During high school and into the early 1980s, he played keyboards in various new-wave bands before turning increasingly to writing. At the age of 21, he published his debut novel, Less Than Zero. It was followed by The Rules of Attraction in 1987 and American Psycho in 1991, which brought Ellis widespread recognition.
