Brenner Hannelore

Hannelore Brenner, born in 1951 in Schwäbisch Gmünd, studied philosophy, German literature and theatre studies. She worked for the writer and Shakespeare translator Hans Rothe and for the American author Peter Wyden, and prepared Rothe’s literary estate for transfer to the German Literature Archive in Marbach. As a radio producer, she created features on Tadeusz Różewicz, Hans Rothe and Peter Wyden, among others. While researching a radio documentary about the children of Theresienstadt, she established contact with survivors of the ghetto and developed the “Room 28” remembrance project. Her book “The Girls of Room 28” was published in 2004 and was followed by an exhibition and further international projects. In 2014, she founded Edition Room 28 with the publication of Helga Pollak-Kinsky’s diary.
