Birgit Erdmann

Birgit Erdmann was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1969. She studied art history and Dutch studies in Marburg, Berlin, and Amsterdam, completing her degree with a Magister in 2000. She subsequently worked for the cultural department of the Dutch Embassy in Berlin. From 2010 onward, she worked as a freelance literary translator and editor, translating fiction and nonfiction from Dutch into German. Her translations include works by Anton de Kom, Hella S. Haasse, and Lisa Weeda. In 2013, she received a fellowship from the Berlin Translators’ Workshop at the Literary Colloquium Berlin.
