Bettina Balaka

Bettina Balàka was born in Salzburg in 1966. She is a freelance writer whose work includes novels, short stories, poetry, essays and literary criticism, as well as plays and radio dramas. Her publications include the young adult novel »Dicke Biber« (2021), which received the Kinderbuchpreis für junge Leser*innen. Balàka has received, among other honors, the Theodor Körner Prize, the Georg Trakl Promotion Prize for Poetry, the Salzburg Poetry Prize and the Friedrich Schiedel Literature Prize.
