Bertrand Russell

Bertrand Russell (1872–1970) was a British philosopher, mathematician and logician, and is regarded as one of the founders of analytic philosophy. He studied mathematics and philosophy at Cambridge and taught, among other places, at Trinity College, Cambridge. Together with Alfred North Whitehead, he wrote Principia Mathematica, a foundational work in mathematical logic. Russell published widely on philosophy, mathematics, religion, politics and social issues, and advocated rationalism, social justice, peace and disarmament. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1950.
