Berthold Wald

Berthold Wald (born 1952 in Wipperfürth) is a German philosopher. He studied philosophy, German studies, education and Catholic theology in Freiburg im Breisgau and Münster. He received his doctorate from the University of Münster in 1986 and completed his habilitation there in 2002. That year, he was appointed professor of systematic philosophy at the Theological Faculty of Paderborn. From 2009 to 2011, he served as rector of the faculty. Wald has published works on the philosophy of the person and on fundamental questions of ethics and legal philosophy. He is also known as an editor of Josef Pieper’s works, including the eight-volume edition of Pieper’s complete works.
