Bernhard Uhde

Bernhard Uhde (born 1948) is a scholar of religious studies and theology. He holds the academic degrees Dr. phil. and Dr. theol. habil. and held a professorship in religious studies at the Institute of Systematic Theology at the University of Freiburg. His areas of research include the world religions, particularly Islam, as well as mysticism and the philosophy of religion. Uhde has published numerous scholarly works, including “West-östliche Spiritualität – Die inneren Wege der Weltreligionen” (Western-Eastern Spirituality: The Inner Paths of the World Religions). He also edited “Der Koran. Neu übersetzt von Milad Karimi” (The Qur’an, newly translated by Milad Karimi). He was involved in founding and directing the Institute for Western-Eastern Wisdom at the University of Freiburg and held international honorary professorships and teaching appointments.
