Bernhard Kleinschmidt

Bernhard Kleinschmidt was born in Ellwangen, Germany. He studied German and American literature in Munich and the United States and earned a doctorate in German studies. He then taught German language and literature at Waseda University in Tokyo for five years. Kleinschmidt worked as a translator of fiction and nonfiction, including books by Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Jack Kornfield, and Peter Straub. He also worked as an author and editor on travel guides to Japan and led study tours there.
