Benjamin von Brackel, born in 1982 in Erlangen, is an author and science journalist. He studied political science in Erlangen and Berlin and graduated from the German School of Journalism in Munich. As a freelance journalist, he wrote for publications including Süddeutsche Zeitung, Die Zeit and Natur, focusing primarily on climate change. He co-founded the online magazine klimareporter.de. In 2016, he received the German Environmental Media Award. His book Wütendes Wetter (2019), co-authored with climate scientist Friederike Otto, appeared on the German nonfiction bestseller list and the Spiegel bestseller list. His second book, Die Natur auf der Flucht (2021), was translated into three languages.
