Bela Chekurishvili, born in 1974 in Gurjaani, Georgia, is a poet and translator. She studied Georgian language and literature at Tbilisi State University and worked as a cultural journalist for Georgian magazines and newspapers, as well as a teacher for several years. Her poetry collections published in German are “We, the Apple Trees” (2016), “Barefoot” (2018), and “The Chair-O-Planes” (2021), translated by Norbert Hummelt. Her poems have been translated into several languages. In 2022, she received an artists’ grant from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
