Barbara Goldstein

Barbara Goldstein (1966–2014) was a German author of historical novels. After working in bank administration, she studied philosophy and social sciences before becoming a full-time writer. Her works include The Evangelist (Die Evangelistin) and The Forgotten Pope (Der vergessene Papst). She was also known for the character Alessandra d’Ascoli, a Florentine bookseller who features prominently in several of her novels. Goldstein died in March 2014 after a long illness.
