Andrea Schacht (d. 2017) studied materials engineering and business administration and initially worked as an industrial engineer, management consultant, and in large-scale industrial plant construction. She later devoted herself to writing. She became known in particular for historical novels, including the series about the Cologne Beguine Almut Bossart, as well as books featuring cats. Her novel The Eleventh Virgin („Die elfte Jungfrau“) was her first to reach the SPIEGEL bestseller list. The idea for her debut novel, The Day with Tiger („Der Tag mit Tiger“), was inspired by an encounter with a hotel cat.
